A few common questions
I forgot my encryption passphrase.
If you still have a device where Hisab is unlocked, open it and set a new passphrase from Settings → Security, and no data is lost. On a new device, use your 12-word recovery phrase to unlock, then set a new passphrase.
I lost both my passphrase and my recovery phrase.
By design, your journal is encrypted with keys only you hold, so entries sealed under the lost key cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. You can begin again with a fresh key and keep your account; past entries stay sealed and unreadable.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Settings → Data → “Delete all my data.” This permanently removes your entries and account from your device and our servers.
Is my journal really private?
Yes. Hisab is zero-knowledge: your reflections and scores are end-to-end encrypted on your device before they sync, and we store only ciphertext we cannot open. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
